National production

In 2012 and in terms of catching, the Moroccan fishery production recorded 1.2 million tons which is worth 7.5 billion Dhs. Even though the fish is very diversified in the Moroccan waters, the national production is still dominated by small pelagic fish up to 84%.

frozen production :

In 2012, the production of freezer seagoing ships represented 4% of the national fish production in regards to the quantity and 33% in regards to the value. These catches amounted to 55 814 tons and valued to 2.5 billion dirhams.

The caught species belong to the following fish groups: cephalopods, crustaceans, whitefish and pelagic fish with dominance by quantity of the cephalopods up to 63%.

Fresh Production :

In 2012, The RSW-type ships, the coastal ships and the artisanal boats landed 1.1 million tons which is 5 billion dirhams worth. It represents 95% of volume and 66% of value of the national production.

The groups of species that are caught by these ships are very diverse: pelagic fish, cephalopods, crustaceans, whitefish, shellfish, seaweed and urchins. The pelagic fish account for 88% of the total landings.
