The management plan for swordfish in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic defines management measures that respect Morocco's commitments to the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) It also ensures the maximization of socio-economic benefits from the exploitation of this resource.

The management plan for swordfish defines:
- The authorized fishing area ;
- The authorized distance to the coast;
- The quota that is defined by ICCAT;
- The authorized fishing gear;
- The Prohibited period for fishing;
- The allowable size.
